T. Michael Long, co-founder of Caswell Investments, LLC, has been Chairman since Caswell's inception in 2012. Mr. Long graduated from Harvard College in 1965 with an A.B. in Government cum laude.
Upon graduation he received the Harvard University Corning Glass Traveling Fellowship for 1965-66, enabling him to visit over 40 countries in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Central America.
After working in various capacities for Ohio University and The Boston Consulting Group, Mr. Long attended The Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration where he received an MBA with distinction in 1971. Mr. Long joined Brown Brothers Harriman & Co. in June 1971 and became a Partner in January 1984. Mr. Long and his colleague (and eventual Partner), Lawrence C. Tucker, co-founded the venture which became the firm's M&A Advisory business.
In the late 1980s Long and Tucker co-founded the 1818 Fund I, LP, the first of seven private equity funds interested in growth capital and structured equity investments managed by Brown Brothers as General Partner.
Jonathan Oestreich joined Caswell Investments as a Senior Advisor in 2015.
Mr. Oestreich received a Bachelor of Science degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Michigan.
From 2005 through 2014, Mr. Oestreich was a Principal in the Corporate Finance department at Brown Brothers Harriman & Co., where he worked with T. Michael Long on principal and advisory engagements in the oil and gas, healthcare, technology, and infrastructure sectors. Mr. Oestreich led the firm’s investment banking efforts in oil and gas and financial services from 2006 through 2012, and the contested situations and corporate finance advisory practices from 2006 through 2014. In the public arena he led sales and divestitures, raid, and activism defenses (including proxy fights) and complex mergers. He is an expert on valuation, acquisition funding strategies, capital structure design, cost of capital analysis, debt capacity analysis, credit quality, shareholder distribution policies, stress testing and funding gap analysis, and peer benchmarking. Mr. Oestreich was a member of the Oversight and Fairness Committee and Chief Risk Officer for the Corporate Finance line-of-business.
From 2000 to 2005, Mr. Oestreich was an attorney with Ropes & Gray in New York, working in mergers and acquisitions and private equity. Among other transactions, he advised Welsh, Carson, Anderson & Stowe on its $7.0 billion leveraged buyout of Dex Communications and Bain Capital, in a consortium with Silver Lake and Goldman Sachs, on the $11.3 billion leveraged buyout of SunGard. He also represented numerous Tier‑1 private equity sponsors in capital raising and fund formation matters, including Credit Suisse Private Equity with respect to over 40 sponsored funds of varying strategy.
From 1995 to 1997, Mr. Oestreich lived in Prague, the Czech Republic, where he represented the government of the Czech Republic in the privatization of the domestic oil refining industry to a consortium of international oil companies (IOCs). He also represented CEZ, the largest integrated utility in Central Europe, on corporate and securities matters including the financing of the Temelin nuclear power plant.

Ms. Heyward joined Caswell Investments in 2015. She graduated from College of Charleston with a Bachelor of Arts in English. After graduating she entered the field of public relations working for Johnson and Wales University as Assistant to the Director. From there she joined the advertising firm of Castleberry and Company in Charlotte, NC where she coordinated and developed marketing campaigns for clients.
Ms. Heyward eventually returned to her native Lowcountry to raise a family. Upon her return she joined Pixie Lily, a high-end designer of luxury baby clothes as Sales Coordinator.
Ms. Heyward is an active local parent volunteer and in her spare time an avid sailor.

Mr. Long received a Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Finance & Accounting from The Wharton School in 2008. Mr. Long previously worked in Germany in both the legal and financial services industries and is fluent in German.
Before co-founding Caswell- Mr. Long was a successful entrepreneur in the natural and organic health food industry in Philadelphia, PA.
Long is a trustee at the Beaufort County Open Land Trust and a member of The Port Royal Sound Foundation, The German American Chamber of Commerce, The Harvard Club of South Carolina, The National Commodore Club, and The Upper Canada Education Foundation.
Mr. Long also serves on the Church Council at St. John's Lutheran Church in Beaufort, SC.
